LUCAS, Graham NevilleAn amazing pilot and wonderful guy, we are all very proud of you. Former SkyHawk and Canberra pilot out of Ohakea Base with the 75th Squadron.
I had never seen him so excited. We had dreamed of going to Antarticia together and he was like a little kid when he gleefully apologised that he couldn't wait for me - he had been offered a seat on flight 901. He lived to fly, loved working for Air New Zealand and considered the DC10 the best aircraft ever developed. A constant friend, deeply missed still.

BROOKS, Gordon BarrettDad loved flying. It wasent just his job, it was something that deeply interested him. He was a dedicated air crew member. And he was our dad. Its hard to put into words just what losing him means - he was and is so very loved. He is part of our life stories - still. Kia kaha dad x Virginia Brooks
I am Gordon's sister and remember him with great pride as one of the chief engineers in Air New Zealand. His voice on the black box voicing his concerns and then faithfully counting down as the distance between the plane and the ground so unexpectedly lessened, illustrated his courage, integrity, and meticulous service to duty in the Airline which was his life. I and my family remain very proud of him and are thankful that we sense him still close to us in spirit. Alison Panckhurst | Position:

MARINOVIC, Suzanne MargaretI knew Suzanne Marinovic(nee Watt) and her sister Janice. Suzie & I used to knock around together and go to the dances back in ther 70's. She had a fantastic personality , great fun to be with and I loved being around her. I was devastated to hear about the crash as I knew she was on the flight that day. I am from Chch which is where Suzie used to live in Burwood. We lost touch after awhile but I always remember the good times we had and even now I still talk about her. Her memory will be with me always. RIP my friend. Ann Smith

WOLFERT, Marie-ThereseMy dad's sister Marie was only 28 years old at the time of the crash - she had no children yet, but a great career with Air NZ and everything in life to look forward to. She used to look after me when I was little and I remember her as a glamorous, beautiful and warm aunty who I loved, and now cannot eat jellybeans with associating them with her. Her passing had a terrible impact on my family, and nothing was the same again for the Clancy's and sadly for her husband Roelof who took his own life 5 months later. I was glad to be there for you today at the 30th anniversary memorial service, to show you were loved and remembered. I wish you were still here Aunty Marie xx Miriam Clancy

Geoff Buchanan...a dearly loved father and grandfather. Taken from us before he could meet 4 more grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
In the words of Fiddler on the Roof... 'Sunrise, Sunset...Sunrise, Sunset...Swiftly fly the years'
Well Grandad...Geoff. Its 30 years this year...and I, we still miss you with a pang that doesn't really get any blunter as the years go by.
I wish you could have been there for all the milestones that have passed since 1979. I wish we could have had more time to do all the things that grandson, and grandfather are supposed to do. I wish that you could have been there when I enlisted...when I got my para wings...when I got back after my first operational tour, and so many more.
I guess we'll never really know if you'd would have been able to be there...but I will tell you this. When I asked Gran (Iris) about your medals, and then helped her apply for them, she asked me to look after them, because in her words 'Geoff would have wanted you to have these'.
Well, I've taken that responsibility very seriously...and they are always in the inside pocket of my Number 1's for ANZAC Day and Armistice Day (if I am fulfilling a parade appointment) or on display if I'm not.
One of these years, I WILL get down to Erebus...somehow. I want to see the place...and maybe that will help with some of the grief and the healing. And maybe a chance to be close to you again...
All my love always, Grandad. I will always remember you teaching me to tie the laces on my first pair of 'Big Boy shoes'. And we’ll all be at Waikumete for the service. You're never far from our thoughts.

Dear Granddad
I wish that I had got the chance to meet you; Dad said you were adventuress, ambitious and well just plain awesome. One of the only things dad will talk to me about in regards to this crash, was about how excited you were that morning when he was taking you to the airport, he said you couldn't wait, and he told me how you had your binoculars & camera ready, and that you were dressed as if you where going on a safari. Dad talks about how you would have been enjoying the champagne and chatting and laughing with everybody that you possibly could, telling them about everyone and everything. You are so very dearly missed, even by those family members that never had the privilege meeting you. We love you very much and we know that you are looking over us.
God Bless Granddad
Love Chris

She touched so many lives with her kindness and theraputic knowledge. Constance guided and nurtured all those around her. I will always miss her bright light. Before she left the States for New Zealand we had lunch. I then told her I could never thank her enough for all she had done for me. Instead, I told her that I would continue to pass it on. I was at Victoria University with Kay from 1977 to 78, and knew her well as we both lodged at Vic House on the Terrace during 77. Kay was a delightful person, always bright and generous. | EDWARDS, Elizabeth Jane | Lib to the Family, Liz to most of her friends.
She was a physical education teacher who excelled in most sports, and in music. She had many many friends and achieved much more than most in her 29 years.
She was keen on sports from junior school age with gymnastics and school sports successes. Welsh under 16 Trampoline Champion, Diving trophies, played Cricket for the county, Lacrosse for the Welsh Team, specific teacher qualifications in Skiing, Canoe & Sailing, Hockey, High-Board Diving, and other sports. She had learnt to play a violin, clarinet and guitar and was a competent choreographer.
She travelled widely over Europe and arranged two Bournemouth school visits to America (given Freedom of Boston), Landrover trip to North Africa; she also learned the basics of the various languages before she went.
She was at the end of a one year teacher exchange to Nae Nae College, Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand when she and two other exchange teachers took the fateful tourist trip to the Antarctic.
Lib’s Charm Bracelet had various shields attached I assume purchased when she was at the locations; Ischgl (Austria where I went skiing with her), Venezia (and a Venetian gondola), castanets, Longleat, a Moroccan shoe, Mallorca, a camel, France, Stafford, Bournemouth, Isle of Wight x 2, Globe, Newport, Scottish thistle, Canterbury, Washington DC USA Capital, Newquay, Jersey, a Cathedral, Boulogne, Dartmouth, Roma, Sappada, Alps cow bell, Statue of Liberty. She had also purchased charms for New Zealand and Fiji.
Her books included rules for almost every school sport, diving, swimming, and sailing, and many language phrase books.
1995 – 2013+ I still play the second hand guitar I bought for her as a present about 1970.
She was my sister, but I wish I had known her better.

I remember Miss Kendon as Head Mistress at Tamaki College in 1973/75. She was a hard task master, and could easily intimidate as she swept up the assembly isle with her black cloak flying behind her. However, i did have her as our class English teacher one year and she was great, i remeber learning "The Raven" and being facinated by her passion for English. She also shared some personal stories with our class about the loss of her lover in the first world war and her choice not to marry anyone else. It is now about 33 years since i attended Tamaki College and I still remember her clearly, but not many other teachers. I think she was one of a kind I don't think they make teachers like her any more. Cathrine Healey | New Zealand |

Urs lived at our place until he bought a small house for himself in Kelston, Auckland. A toolmaker, he worked with HMC on Rosebank Rd in Avondale. Through my father Urs had taken up gliding and they were building a glider together in our garage. One of his other hobbies was to take photos of many events in and around Auckland; and he was a keen stamp collector. He spent quite a bit of time with my second cousin Susanne and her husband Heinz Bürgi who had arrived in NZ from Switzerland in 1975. Urs took flight TE901 together with Heinz. -----
The 28 November is Urs’s mother’s birthday. His parents are now 89 and 96 years old. They live in the same apartment in Switzerland as in 1979, and Urs’ room remains much as it did before he left home to emigrate to New Zealand. However they are no longer able to make their bi-annual 3-month pilgrimage to the country that was home to their only son at the time of his death.

 | PARKKARI, Eija Kylli Marjatta | I attended Humber College in Toronto, for 2 years in the 70's with Eija PARKKARI. Never knew her well as she was a very quiet studious person who kept to herself. If she hadn't lost her life in this tragic accident, I'm sure she would have gone on to be one of the leading players in Canada's tourism industry. God Bless. Gary | Canada |

 | SEKI, Toshiro | I met Mr. Seki in 1964 on a flight in which I was a stewardess. He took a polaroid photo of himeself with my other flight attendants and I. In looking through my old photos, I came across the picture with his note on the back. He was a professor at the Waseda University in Tokyo. I always wondered what ever happened to him and so I did some research. Sadly, I've just learned of his death on Air New Zealand's flight 901 in 1979. I would like to know if anyone from his family would like to have a copy of the photo (at no cost) from 1964. I would appreciate any family member to contact me at the above Email address - cafree13@aol.com . With deep sympathy, Carole Freeman Minden, Nevada United States
