Dr May has returned to Sydney after
a stint as the Qatar Medical Officer,
based in Doha. He was previously
based in Sydney with Virgin Australia
as its Group Medical Officer, before
heading to the Middle East.
He will still hold fortnightly clinics at
his rooms in Mascot, while commuting
to Canberra for his work at CASA.
Andy Pender welcomes Dr May’s
appointment. “You can’t beat an
experienced medical examiner filling
the PMO role, especially when they
are maintaining their presence at the
coal face as a current GP/designated
aviation medical examiner (DAME).
Our CASA members will see the
benefits of Simon’s forward-looking
regulating style.
“Our New Zealand and Australian
based DAMEs have been incredibly
welcoming of Simon’s appointment.
All of us in the wider Medical and
Welfare team are looking forward to
strengthening our ties with the CASA
Medical Unit under Dr May’s watch,”
says Andy Pender.
